What It's Actually For

Most consulting stops at the business. The restlessness you're feeling usually isn't about the business at all.

Most consultants treat your marriage and your kids as the thing you sacrifice for the company. I treat them as the whole reason we do any of this. If you're going to bring the hard stuff home, you've got to bring the cake too, not just the stress. We build a life where your ambition and your family pull the same direction instead of fighting each other.

The real scoreboard was never the exit. It's whether the person you married has real freedom, whether your kids know what they're here for, and whether you're climbing with the people you love instead of clawing over them.

Underneath all of it is the quieter question. The restlessness isn't a strategy problem. It's a meaning problem. Somewhere back there it stopped being "what's next for the business" and became "what is all of this actually for?"
